ETHICAL ASPECTS

Ethics of Scientific Publishing

Research must comply with the regulations related to research ethics in each country and/or region, for which authors must obtain the necessary authorizations. If patient images are used, their identity and privacy must be protected. In this regard, the journal follows the Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals issued by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), which can be consulted at the following link: https://www.icmje.org/recommendations/translations/spanish2021.pdf.

Research Involving Experimental Animals and/or Humans

If the research submitted to the journal involves the participation of experimental animals or humans, authors must ensure that they adhere to the Code of Ethics proposed in the Declaration of Helsinki (http://doi.org/10.1001/jama.2013.281053) or its Spanish version (https://www.wma.net/es/policies-post/declaracion-de-helsinki-de-la-amm-principios-eticos-para-las-investigaciones-medicas-en-seres-humanos/). Authors must obtain informed consent from all study participants and explicitly declare it in the manuscript.

For randomized clinical trials, authors must obtain approval from the Clinical Research Ethics Committee (or a similar body, depending on the regulations of the country of origin), declare funding for its execution, and ensure that the study is registered and endorsed by a public clinical trial registry (e.g., www.clinicaltrials.gov).

Conflict of Interest

All authors must disclose any personal or financial relationships with individuals or organizations that could inappropriately influence (bias) their work. In this regard, the journal follows the Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals issued by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), which can be found in section II-B-2 at the following link: https://www.icmje.org/recommendations/translations/spanish2021.pdf.

If no conflict of interest exists, authors must declare in the corresponding section: "Conflicts of interest: none." If a conflict of interest exists, authors must disclose it in the corresponding section (Conflicts of Interest) and attach the Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form following the model proposed by the ICMJE (https://www.icmje.org/downloads/coi_disclosure.docx). The information in the declaration must match the information in the submitted manuscript.

Authors must declare the details of the institution(s) that provided financial support for the research and/or the preparation of the article, as well as briefly describe the role of the sponsors in the study design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation, manuscript writing, or the decision to submit the article for publication. If no such participation occurred, this must also be explicitly stated.
