The journal SAPIENS BOTECH  INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL(SBIJ) is committed to ensuring high-quality standards in all its publications.

Crossmark is a multi-publisher initiative by Crossref designed to provide a standardized way for readers to locate the current version of a piece of content. Quantum is committed to maintaining the content it publishes and alerting readers to changes should they occur.

Research does not stop: even after publication, articles can be updated with supplementary data or corrections. It is important to know whether the content being cited has been updated, corrected, or retracted, and that is the guarantee that publishers can offer readers through the use of Crossmark. It is a standardized button, consistent across platforms, that reveals the status of a content item and can display any additional metadata the member chooses. Fundamentally, the Crossmark button is embedded in PDFs, meaning that members have a way to alert readers to changes months or even years after the content has been downloaded.

With a single click, you can see whether the content has been updated, corrected, or retracted and access valuable additional metadata provided by the member, such as key publication dates (submission, review, acceptance), authors' ORCID identifiers, content type, plagiarism detection status, and information about funding, licensing, peer review, and research data location.

For Crossmark purposes, there are two categories of updates: minor and major changes.

Minor changes include formatting and spelling corrections. There are no substantial changes that require alerting the reader, so the Crossmark status remains current. If the changes do not affect the accreditation or interpretation of the work, the Crossmark status remains unchanged. This also applies to article version control: if the differences between versions of a work do not reflect significant changes in the article’s content, the Crossmark status should remain current.

Major changes affect the Crossmark status of the work, as Crossmark is intended to inform readers about significant changes in the published literature. Substantial changes, such as the retraction of an article due to an error or the addition or removal of an author, must be reflected in the Crossmark status of a work. It is good practice to publish a correction or retraction notice (with its own DOI) and not place it behind access control. This allows readers to follow the link in the Crossmark button and find more details about the update.
